Heat exchanger tubes (boiler tubes)
Heat exchanger tubes, also called boiler tubes, are seamless, alloyed steel tubes developed for use at extreme temperatures and pressures. They are primarily used in power plants and petrochemical plants and have a lifecycle of up to 25 years.
They present the heat exchanger tube test with particular challenges:
ROTOMAT/TRANSOMAT: The ROTOMAT and TRANSOMAT test systems are used for testing heat exchanger tubes for transverse and longitudinal defects both on the outside and inside of tubes using the flux leakage method.
CIRCOGRAPH: The CIRCOGRAPH test instruments are used for reliably detecting longitudinal defects. Rotating probes contactless scan the material surface of heat exchanger tubes using eddy current.
